This year's fun run/walk saw 79 competitors take to the course. The event ran like clockwork due to several changes made as a result of reviewing last year's event. The 2016 event was in fact the pinnacle of four years of refinements since I became involved and subsequently implementing a new tallying system to cater for the increasing numbers of entrants drawn to Coronet Bay in recent years.
While the competitors are not expected to appreciate what goes on behind the scenes, the event itself is just the tip of the iceberg as preparations begin several months in advance. The week before the event is a fulltime commitment to ensure that everything runs smoothly on race day.
This year more first aid personnel were added and we had about 30 volunteers to help. Overall I couldn't have been happier in the way it turned out.
Thank you to all those people who pitched in on the day including our headquarters staff and course marshals made up of local residents and CFA members from Corinella and Grantville-Kernot. Thank you also to our sponsors who contributed in various ways.
Bendigo Bank Grantville - $600 grant, contributing to the Corflute road signage.
Alex Scott Real Estate, Grantville - covered the balance of the signage.
Van Steensel Timbers, Grantville - donated materials for the timber signs to house the Corflute signage.
Caile's Cabinets, Wonthaggi - kitting the timber for the signs in readiness for assembling.
Cargill's Sports Store, Wonthaggi - giving us a good deal on the medallions.
Westernport Water for providing the water station.
